The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a show-cause notice to NRS Hospital due to negligence in duty and multiple administrative irregularities. The commission has imposed a fine running into several crore rupees on the college. The notice details eight serious issues, including significant irregularities in doctor attendance, with 18 out of 20 departments reporting problems related to the presence of doctors during duty hours.
In addition to attendance concerns, the NMC found evidence of lapses in the conduct of MBBS examinations at the institution. The notice also highlights administrative discrepancies and irregularities in records across various departments. Furthermore, the hospital has failed to provide clear and accurate data regarding the number of patients treated and mortality figures, which was noted as a key issue by the commission.
The college administration has submitted a response to the notice. Following this, the NMC has issued strict instructions targeting doctors and professors, emphasizing the need for compliance with duty and administrative protocols. The commission’s directives aim to address the issues raised in the notice and ensure proper functioning of the hospital and college departments.
